I've always enjoyed Pittsburgh, even from the days of the "old" airport, since I spent slightly over five years traveling there to assist a great client, Calgon. A consultant in my mentor community, Michael Couch, has suggested that I conduct a workshop in town, and I've agreed to do two!
On Wednesday, January 7, 2009, I hope you'll join me for one or both of these unique developmental experiences.
Agenda
| 8:00am - 9:00am | Continental Breakfast |
| 9:00am -12:00pm | Morning Program |
| 12:00pm - 1:00pm | Bonus Lunchtime Program (only for those registered for both sessions) |
| 1:00pm - 4:00pm | Afternoon Program |
Morning Program:
Marketing Gravity and Value Based Consulting
This is a condensed version of what I'm doing in Sydney in October where we expect over 700 people. I'm be discussing and demonstrating:
- How to lure the true buyer to you.
- Why HR and training are seldom buyers.
- Establishing peer-level relationships with executives.
- Why high fees create the perception of increased value.
- Two viable, alternative business models.
- The profile for an outstanding rainmaker.
- Three elements of client need.
- Three needs for market success.
- Circumventing (or blowing up) gatekeepers.
- The elements of effective branding.
There will be copies of all the visuals I'll use as well as one of my CDs on marketing for everyone who registers.
You will emerge from this session with a tight, focused plan for using your unique talents and strengths to achieve optimal results with both new, repeat, and referral business.
Afternoon Program:
How to Make Top Money in A Bottom Economy
This is a new program I've created in reaction to the outstanding years many people I've mentored are enjoying in an economy undermining so many others. I'll be discussing and demonstrating:
- Why low hanging fruit isn't necessarily nutritious or desirable.
- Why you should raise fees in tough economic times.
- Leveraging yourself through the Internet and social media.
- How to move into global consulting (Alan's newest book: December 09).
- The language of the sale and how to influence any buyer.
- Creating new, added-value, products and services.
- Shameless self-promotion and avoiding "best kept secret" status.
- Appealing to more diverse opportunities and buyers.
- Self-esteem amidst gloom and doom.
- The platinum methods for referral business at no cost.
There will be copies of these visuals plus another CD for everyone.
You will emerge with a heightened ability to move your practice forward without worrying about the economy or the "poverty mentality" which abounds in the profession today.
Bonus Lunchtime Program:
Using the Internet to Grow Your Business
Chad Barr, whose company creates some of the most original web sites and applications anywhere, and who personally creates and administers my sites, blog, forum, and so on, will provide clear and immediately applicable techniques to improve your business using the Internet. No gimmicks, no "boot camp," just stuff we all know works and anyone can do. Chad will display web sites and blogs to indicate in real time what works and what undermines success.
This is a free session, with complimentary lunch, only for those attending both morning and afternoon session. You may not attend this otherwise.
Free Membership in the Society for Advancement of Consulting®!
Attend both sessions and I'll provide a free membership in SAC®, a global community of superb consultants. SAC members receive free monthly newsletters, press releases which include their comments for the media, discounts in professional services, board approvals in specialties, workshop discounts, an annual free meeting, and 10 free teleconferences which members all over the world extol as the finest around (and are available as MP3 downloads).
I will waive the normal first year fee ($300) and the application process will be expedited through a simple form and an ethics pledge. (You may renew yearly thereafter at a nominal rate if you desire.) Michael Couch may start a chapter in Pittsburgh as a result, providing for local support.
Logistics
We're holding this at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott (where I once spent WAY too much time), so that it's also convenient for those flying in. We have a discounted room rate at the hotel. Simply mention my name and the program.
There will be a continental breakfast at 8 for the morning program, complimentary lunch for those attending both programs, and complimentary refreshments mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
Investment
The fee for the morning program is $750 ($550 for Mentor Members, $650 for existing SAC members). The fee for the afternoon session is identical.
The fee for both sessions—the full day—is $1125 ($950 for Mentor Members, $1025 for SAC members). The full day includes lunch, SAC membership (for existing members, complimentary renewal, and Chad Barr's luncheon presentation on leveraging technology.)
All fees increase by $200 as of November 1, 2008
Summary
This is going to be a great day. Everything I do is highly interactive, and you'll be able to ask specific questions relevant to your practice. Whether you are just starting in consulting, or a veteran, this is a full day jammed with value and great ideas that you won't find elsewhere. In fact, it may be the only one we do.
Don't miss by return to Pittsburgh!
